Response of midland sorghum varieties to different intra-row spacing at kaffa zone south western Ethiopia

The experiment was conducted to determine optimum plant spacing and suitable variety as well identify the interaction effect of varieties Intra-row on yield sorghum. having a factorial arrangement three (Geremew, Lalo farmer’s local variety) intra-row levels (10 cm, 15 cm 20 cm) laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with replications. According current results, were significantly (p<0.05) affected by all parameters (days maturity, height, panicle length, thousand seed weight total grain yield) except stand count. maximum days maturity (205.2 5628.1 kg ha-1 respectively) obtained from Lalo. highest (23.1 g) recorded Geremew at it takes short period for (119.5 days). Similarly, length (28.15 spaced plants. count (78.6 % 83.6%) plants respectively. Generally, outcome this study revealed that even though statistically non-significant intra-raw spacing, 15cm 20cm 4178.5 4190.9 ha-1, Therefore, among its minimized planting materials (seed) easy management varieties, could be promoted areas similar agro-ecologies.
